Giving and receiving feedback can bring about strong emotions, yet strong emotions limit the ability to grasp information. During this workshop, delegates learn skills to share feedback in a calm and focused manner to allow positive change to develop.

Content

Living organisms use information to make choices in order to thrive. Trying out new information yields more new information, with the only failure being the failure to learn from mistakes. Gaining knowledge from mistakes is a fundamental aspect of development. Feedback, then, is vital information - it helps us to grow, learn and gain competency in our roles. However - and this is true from the times humans first walked the earth - accepting errors in our actions is emotionally arousing, which blocks learning.

Knowing why emotions occurs means we can use more helpful language to keep things calm

Delegates explore the rationale for using certain language to avoid patterns that may trigger strong, unhelpful emotions. This then allows the receiver to absorb the information calmly and to take on feedback, resulting in their personal development along with that of the organisation’s.
